(Theft is an opportunity for change)
The place to start from scratch
Where we can change habits
Disconnected from reality but it reminds it
Where there is a balance between cold and heat
That is where lies the potential for change
We can leave behind the old materials and forces that pull us down and succeed in establishing a fundamental change. The new environment will enable us to change our habits and reach a different situation.
Blue Mars - a platform for emotional change
The desert territory of Mars is an opportunity to start from the beginning, a virgin space cell devoid of human intervention, without human contact. The surface conditions of the new planet - extreme cold and external heat - change the rhythm of biological, physical and mental processes. The cold keeps emotional states from overflowing, while the strong heat enables movement in space and even encourages sexual activity
Physical activity will be the basis for beginning the change and preparing the body for a journey beyond the known boundaries. It will provide physical and mental resilience. Training will enhance the accuracy and fitness of the body. Exercising will help to control emotions and to maintain a balanced mood. It will also require internal and external vitality. The sports equipment seeks to be a tool for human movement, a catalyst, for an act that motivates change. A movement that begins with simple physical activity will summon inertia changes that will enable new life on another planet.
In the entrance hall a video describes the destruction of old technology. A cell phone that lights the letter U in the blue background, the Berlin subway logo, goes up in flames until the screen is extinguished and the fire consumes it. The work "Last U" combines two stories: the theft of Amrani's cell phone in a service taxi and the theft of fire from Zeus and its return to humans by Prometheus. This video is the end of one project and the beginning of another.
The central space has an installation that simulates the Martian soil. The space is paved with a dense polystyrene, reminiscent of the floor of gyms, and refers to the different gravity on Mars. On the surface are red stones from the Israeli Desert (Makhtesh Ramon).
A video projected along the wall unites the desert of Mars and the desert of the Negev into one imaginary environment. In the desert horizon, the cleanest of all human construction is accompanied by a blue figure with no camels' identity. For Amrani, the blue color is attributed to the upper part of the body and head and symbolizes the possibility neither floating nor sinking emotionally.
A white-tiled sink with running water serves as an endless source of water on mars, where it can be use for clearing of precipitation and Routines. New sneakers, a towel and a bottle of water are ready for use as a kit for the trainer . A small wine refrigerator contains a pool of cooled water bottles for the right temperature. All these are an invitation to motivate a change.
